Plain English Summary: Use SpectraSort to sort your photos. Don't use it for anything illegal. We're not responsible if something goes wrong with your photos (but we've designed the app to be safe). You own your photos and your Taste profile. We can update these terms, and we'll let you know if we do.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using SpectraSort ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, please don't use the App.
2. Description of Service
SpectraSort is a photo organization application that uses on-device artificial intelligence to help users find, sort, and curate their photo libraries. The App is organized into three areas:
- Toolbox — six one-tap sorting tools: Your Taste (a learned taste profile), Best Shots (quality-first), Find a Subject (free-text search), Like This Photo (similar-photo search), Photos of a location, and Dedupe (duplicates and look-alikes)
- Discover — auto-gathered Scenes (trips, themes, series) and a year / month / day Timeline, each sortable with a tap
- Studio (Premium) — custom sorting controls: seven quality dimensions (sharpness, exposure, contrast, noise, composition, color, balance), subject-vs-quality weighting, up to three subjects at once, and saved profiles
Sort results open in Review, where photos can be picked, kept, or discarded. Batch Process then saves picks to a new album, shares them, or deletes discarded photos — always with explicit confirmation.
3. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Use the App only for lawful purposes
- Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App
- Not use the App to infringe on others' intellectual property rights
- Maintain appropriate backups of your photos (the App is not a backup service)
4. Photo Library Access
The App requires access to your device's photo library to function. By granting access, you acknowledge that:
- All photo processing occurs locally on your device
- The App may read photo data to perform analysis
- The App will not modify or delete photos without your explicit confirmation
- You can revoke access at any time through your device settings
5. Intellectual Property
Your Content: You retain all rights to your photos and any Taste profile you build. We claim no ownership over your content.
Our Content: The App, including its code, design, AI models, and documentation, is owned by SpectraSort and protected by intellectual property laws. You receive a limited, non-exclusive license to use the App for personal purposes.
6. Taste Profile
The Taste profile is built and stored on your device from the photos you keep and the ones you discard during Review. It consists of preference parameters and compact numerical descriptors of your picked photos — not viewable images. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party, and there is no profile-sharing feature in this version. You can reset the Taste profile at any time from Settings → Reset Taste Profile.
7. In-App Purchases
SpectraSort operates on a free weekly sort allowance:
- Free: Five sorts per week across every tool and Discover (a sort is counted when the Review screen opens; the counter resets weekly). Reviewing your results and all follow-up actions — saving picks to a new album, sharing, and deleting — are free and unlimited. Building the Taste profile from your picks and discards is also free.
- Premium: Removes the weekly sort limit and unlocks the Studio tab (custom quality controls, subject-vs-quality weighting, up to three subjects, saved profiles).
Premium pricing
Premium is a single one-time purchase of $19.99 (US pricing; equivalent local pricing applies in other regions). There is no subscription, and nothing auto-renews.
One-time purchase
Premium is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase tied to your Apple ID. It unlocks Premium features permanently across any device signed in with the same Apple ID, and can be restored on a new device via the "Restore Purchases" button in Settings. Your Apple ID account is charged at confirmation of purchase. Apple's standard refund policy applies for refund requests — submit those through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Purchases from earlier versions
Earlier versions of SpectraSort offered auto-renewing subscriptions; these are no longer sold. A lifetime unlock purchased in an earlier version carries over automatically, and any still-active legacy subscription continues to unlock Premium.
Free trials and promotional offers
SpectraSort ships without an introductory free trial; we may run time-limited promotional offers in the future, in which case the offer terms shown in the App at the time of purchase will govern.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that:
- The App will meet all your requirements
- The App will be error-free or uninterrupted
- AI analysis results will be perfectly accurate
- The App will be compatible with future iOS versions
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SpectraSort shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
- Loss of photos or data
- Loss of profits or business opportunities
- Damage to your device
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Photo Deletion
When you choose to delete photos through the App:
- Photos are moved to iOS's "Recently Deleted" folder
- Photos remain recoverable for 30 days (per iOS behavior)
- We strongly recommend reviewing photos before confirming deletion
- SpectraSort is not responsible for photos you choose to delete
11. Updates and Changes
We may update the App and these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. Material changes will be communicated through the App or via the App Store.
12. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device. We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to the App for violations of these Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of California, USA.
